I have found my first week back so hard it’s been impossible to settle and I have been absolutely shattered.
Having reflected now on the whole trip I have realised just what an extreme challenge this has been, I think people under estimated how fit you needed to be and because of that they suffered.

Out of the 15 people 13 got D and V, 12 suffered with altitude and two of our group had to be airlifted off the mountain at Gorakshep with altitude sickness. On the way down our Nepalese doctor collapsed and had to be taken down on the back of a porter part way and then on horseback.
For me personally I have loved this trip, I trained hard before I went and that really paid off, don’t get me wrong this has been the toughest physical challenge I have ever undertaken but the most rewarding experience of my life. I have taken a step back and thought about what I need as opposed to what I want and realised I already have more than enough. I also realise that I can’t stop, the only guarantee we have in life is death, I want to get to a ripe old age and look back on my life and know that I filled it with as many experiences and challenges as possible. Without that I know I will be living a half-life. My life is too short for ‘what if’.
For all of you out there thinking about doing something different and taking up a challenge I would say, stop thinking about it and do it as a person you will grow even if you don’t succeed because you had the courage to give it a go and that’s what counts.
Live life, grab it then look back and be content.
